Hi all,

Sorry if this question has been answered but i cannot seem to find the correct configuration.

I have enabled the web content filtering and tied it down quite hard, now what i wish to do is allow exceptions to the rule

For example i have denied in web content webmail but would like to allow an exception for hotmail.

How do i combine the two configurations to do this, any config examples would be great thanks.

I joined just to ask this question, can anyone help?!
Basically I need instructions on how to whitelist certain URL's after blocking their catagory with web filtering.

:edit:

This is on a Vigor 2820 with v3.3.0 firmware.

have a look at this post:

http://www.forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=12537

it's a little complex and you need to get your head around the firewall.
you can take the schedule part out (unless you need it) and make sure the whitelist comes before the block list

2820 = 3.3.2_RC5
2950 = 3.2.4

Hi Louis,

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried to get my head round that post, but it simply doesnt seem to work.

What i have is the following

1 rule that blocks all traffic dependant on schedule
2nd rule that is configured with just the web filter and "pass if no further match"
3rd rule that has the allowed keyword filter and "Pass immediately" configured

The url filter does not seem to come into play no matter what.

Any suggestions to the above ruleset that might get me sorted

forget the above as its purpose was for something else but shows how you have to think with the drayteks.
try this.....

1. create web content rule which blocks webmail
2. create url filter that allows "hotmail"

under url filter profile:

1. create profile called "block webmail"
2. priority = url filter first
3. select url filter to allow hotmail and select pass
4. select web content filter that blocks webmail and select block

under firewall>filter setup

1. create rule called block/allow webmail
2. direction = lan>wan
3. filter = pass
4. url content filter = "block webmail"

so with the above the firewall should:
1. allow all traffic first and then select the following in order:
url filter: hotmail = allow
web content: webmail = block

i've not tried it as i have no need to but in theory it should work as it follows the standard firewall rules.

2820 = 3.3.2_RC5
2950 = 3.2.4

Hi louis,

Thanks for that but still doesnt seem to work.

It seems to always have one rule working and not the other, not taking into consideration the exceptions.

Do you have any more suggestions, or do i need to log a call with Draytek with regards to this?

Thanks
