2860n+ - Connection dropout was created by mhann.gsy
Just wondering if anyone can help me.

I have a 2860n+ which has had issues with dropping internet connection. I have not been able to definitively track down the culprit but it seems to coincide with the use of our Harmony One Remote hub.

The message "Dynamic DNS Setup> Force Update" always shows up in the syslog at the time the connection has dropped.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this issue and how I could rectify it?

I would have thought that the DDNS Update may be a consequence of the drop rather than a cause, because a DDNS update would occur if the WAN IP has changed or occurs automatically when the unit starts.

Check the online status to see what your DSL stats are reporting.

If you've got a note of what they were previously then you could compare to see if anything has changed recently. It's also worth listening to the phone line to see if you can hear any noise that wasn't there before. Just pickup the phone press 0 (so that the dial tone stops) and listen.

It's also worth comparing the System Uptime to the DSL Uptime.

Thanks for the response Macavity.

Not sure how to attach a jpg of my DSL stats so have copied the pertinent information below, however, I don't have anything from before it was an issue, particularly as I have put off seeking help on it (the issue has been going for a few months now).

Mode ADSL2+ Annex A
State SHOWTIME
Up Speed 764000
Down Speed 13764000
SNR Margin 6
Loop Att. 31

Up Time is 35:04:26
System Up Time is 2 Days 18:26:45

I am not really sure what else to look up.

Have you done the usual steps... changing tel cable, connect directly to socket without filters/splitters.
I had a similar case in a client and turned out a pin of the patch panel was broken and barely touched the dsl tel wire.
And another case in other client where dsl would go down when sending fax. Turned out the lid of the fax when opening pushed the tel cable a bit which had a loose clip.
Not to mention my own example where my 2925 Vigor would reboot because it didn't like the ups. It needed pure sinewave ups.
I've said so many times, these IT/tech stuff is the works of the evil!!

Thanks fchef.

I have tried all the usual culprits and can confirm there is no problem with that as I called out the telephone company as I thought we had an issue with their end on d/l speed (turns out it wasn't but that is a whole other embarrassing story).

The only other option is to replace all my cat5 cable in case it is one of them. What is annoying about this issue is that it has just crashed in the last hour at a time I don't remember using my Harmony remote so it is looking less likely that it was that.

I have included an excerpt from the web syslog which may help in diagnosing the problem:-

One thing I don't understand is that at 21:31:24 it states the WEP session was stopped, but my wifi is on WPA2.
