Firmware Code Help was created by alucidnation
Hi guys,

Having some random disconnection issues, and i have noticed the latest fw is available for my 2862.

I am connected to an ECI cabinet with no vectoring support, so it has been suggested i download and install the non BT firmware as this may help with stability.

Trouble is, i don't know which one of the other two to use?

I have the choice of either the 776D07 or 77B506 code.

Thanks for any help.

Hi

Curios, how did you find out there was no vectoring support?
How far are you from the dslam, whats your SNR/Attenuation/Rates figures?

Hi again,

From what i understand, openreach don't offer vectoring support on ECI cabinets. They were starting to trial it, but gave up for technical reasons.

My dsl stats are..

Downstream Upstream
Actual Rate 62253 Kbps 16116 Kbps
Attainable Rate 61552 Kbps 16043 Kbps
Path Mode Fast Fast
Interleave Depth 1 1
Actual PSD 6. 7 dB 6. 9 dB
Near End Far End
Trellis ON ON
Bitswap ON ON
ReTx 0 0
SNR Margin 5 dB 6 dB
Attenuation 18 dB 24 dB
CRC 1844 103
FECS 14188 s 10990 s
ES 180 s 17 s
SES 0 s 0 s
LOSS 0 s 236 s
UAS 36 s 17426250 s
HEC Errors 0 0

As you will see my errors are considerable, and those are without any phone connected

Hi

My FECS over a three hour period are around 21000 on UL, 0 on DL, my SNR is 3/6
My speeds (when no other traffic, and time dependant) are close to the attainable rates
Yours appear to be also, and interleave looks ok.
Disconnects can be caused by a variety of issues, lines touching trees, internal and external interference for example, this is a RF signal we are talking about here.
Is the line clean, do you have any internal connected to the Master box, for example extensions?
The property I once had had an extra pair on the exchange side wired to a Sky box, this when removed by OR it improved the adsl service.
Presumably the previous owners had it installed for the old sky dial up service.
Do you think any of those may be an issue?
FYI there is a paper on the Draytek site re

Thanks.

It looks like you are probably on a Huawei cabinet with your 3db snr.

As i say, ECI dont really have the luxury of vectoring, hence my snr being at 6db.

I have had many engineers swapping pairs etc, and on their testers, the CRC & ES errors are 0, yet the Draytek is registering quite a few, and that total so far is over about 33 hours.

I am assuming that the Draytek is a lot more sensitive to these than their test equipment.

His connection rate was 48, and yet when i plug in the modem i sync at around 60 as you can see!

Absolutely nothing else is connected to my phone socket, except a dsl filter and the Draytek. No phone.

If i plug a phone in, the errors increase by a huge amount by the second!

Hi

Plugging the phone in sounds like there may be a wiring issue, as the filter would prevent the phone causing an issue.
Perhaps the phone is on the 'wrong side' of the filter?

Are you hearing anything on the phone when its quiet (on adsl you could hear a hiss, vdsl uses different frequencies, or all the vdsl circuits would interfere with the adsl circuits.
If the phone is disconnected, do you still get disconnects?
Have you any extensions connected via the faceplate?
What cable/lead are you using to connecting the draytek to the faceplate?
What faceplate is it?
Has it ever worked on vdsl correctly?
Any extra wires on the outside of the house which may be connected to the exchange side?
Are you fed from overhead or underground wires?
Are you closely located to a medium/short wave transmitter?
Any radio amateurs in the locality?
Any electrical activity in the property that may be an issue (Lookup REIN, try the kitz web site for more information)

Please answer all the questions as it will assist in determining the problem.
