If it helps...
I have a pair of 2820's running an IPsec LAN-LAN VPN between 2 sites.
Enabling PPTP and configuring for a remote user had no effect on the IPSec VPN.

A minor effect if it is anything like my 2900 is that it will force a router reboot, so the other tunnels will drop for a few moments.

From the 2820 GUI just go to "VPN and Remote Access -> Remote Access Control" and enable the protocol you wish to use; PPTP is easiest !rpg wrote:
will enabling another protocol have any affect on the vigor to vigor vpn tunnel currently connecting my bosses house network and the office?

how long does a reboot take?
long enough for my users not to notice? in fact i'll do it at 5pm as i'll be the only one on internet at that time anyway so won't make a difference.
cheers folks.

ok, so have enabled the required prtocols, created some user accounts but when i try to log in from home (typing ip address :8080 into browser) i get nowhere. i can log into the admin console by entering the admin username and password but when i enter one of the created user accounts i get a not autheticated error message.
can someone write donw the exact steps i should follow from turning on the pptp protocol to being able to log in to my domain remotely.
Many thanks.
