That certainly is odd. My MTU settings were 1492 on both firmware versions and the latter (3.3.4.1) reduced my bandwidth to 1.4Mb.
I cant work out what could be making the MTU so sensitive in the recent version of the firmware. I don't think there was any ADSL changes to the firmware so struggling to see the connection.
Kind regards,
Bradley Porter

I've found by reducing the MTU down to 1458 on V3.3.4.1 firmware my DL speed is back to normal. Tried other routers and tested ok at different MTU rates.Mykal wrote:

Yes i normally run all routers on 8 meg adsl max @ 1500 MTU but for the Vigor 2820 not going above 1492. Going to try 1478 as recommeded by my ISP if 1500 not working well. I'll get back with the results.

Out of interest, who is the ISP? I ask as some people are working fine with this new version of the firmware and some are not. I wonder if the link is ISP related?
Kind regards,

Well @ MTU 1478 things look better with a possible 1 meg extra DL giving me about 6.3 meg which is close to what i was getting @ MTU 1500 on other routers. The other routers being Dlink DSL 2640R and Netgear DG834G. I will stick with the Draytek though as my ping is almost half running with the 2820.

Well, that is some good news.
I am still completely baffled why MTU matters more in the latest version........unless the small changes have caused a knock-on effect.
