There is no configuration whatsoever (that I can find) in the router, which is anything to do with the printer sharing feature.
The printer just "appears" on one of the IP addresses set up in the router for a different purpose.
I expect that the router auto detects the printer and configures itself for sharing it.
The spurious "header page" is the most annoying feature, but on the whole it works.

Hi,
I got my deskjet 940c to work after I learnt to ignore the Windows offer of sending a test print. This always gets stuck because it occurs before you have had chance to configure the port as "lpr" and using port "p1".
If you ignore the option to send a test print and then go back to the settings and adjust the port as above and then do a test print it all works fine.
