I have only used Zen Internet (http://www.zen.co.uk), and they are slightly less than 30 GBP/month. My connection has gone down once in 7 months, and I get the full 512/256 24 hours a day. I recommend them highly!

I haven't had a need for their support yet.

I use freedom2surf, and have had no problems with them at all.

I went with f2s because they were the best priced at the time (paying 22.50 per month for a bare wires deal, no clauses in the contract to limit the number of connected machines, a fixed IP address, 20Mb web space, 5Mb mySQL database and 5 email accounts all hosted on f2s servers. there's a one month notice period on the contract, rather than the more frequent 12 month tie in)

I cant comment on connection speed, I've never really timed it, but the connection has been up for 1100 hours so far ( and was working flawlessy before that, it was unplugged by accident)

anyhow, I'm not connected to these folks in any way, just a happy customer.

regards

R

I've been with Zen for a long time now. They are excellent, but support is not available on weekend (currently).

I also use Star Internet at work. They are also amazing, and their technical support has to be seen to be believed. Bit more $

Hope this helps.

I was a poor NTL cable customer. Suffered regular disconnects (as do friends and family)

I have just switched to F2S and they dont even charge the £50 'setup fee'

512k service £22.50 month INC VAT
1M £29.99

pretty damn good or what? AND their support has been first class

they phone back when they say they will. PLUS you can get through to them quick

ahhhhhhh what a change from crappy NTL

My Draytek 2600 seems pretty damn fine bit of kit as well - will have to sell my Netgear FR314 Firewall Router on Ebay now - doh!

Firstly, and most importantly, don't go anywhere near vianetworks. They appear to have got rid of all their support staff and repeated attempts by a client of mine to contact them have just not received ANY response at all. He has two domains with them and has just managed to get one back after three months of trying, and only by going through nominet. The other one is a .com domain and getting that back is going to be very difficult - in fact it might be impossible. They really are as bad as it is possible to be.

Good ISPs - many of my clients have had excellent experiences with pipex. I'm sure they're not perfect, but of many people I know who have used them I haven't heard any complaints at all.

I personally use Bulldog, and they've been OK. I did have some billing problems with them debiting both my bank account and my debit card at one point, but after a bit of effort I finally managed to resolve that problem and the service is fine in every other respect.

I have heard quite a few bad experiences with Tiscali, but have no personal experience with them.

My view is that most ISPs offer decent service when things are going OK - it's in the problem resolution that some fall down.

I use 2Meg with UKOnline. Im happy with their service so far. The feature I love the most is, if I get someone onto the ISP I get a month free, got 5 so far I think. Plus theyre enabling 24Mbit ADSL+2 but then thatll get beaten until 'bonded' ADSL+2 supercedes, then ethernet to home or fibre to home. All DSL customers shud have it done and make the DSL companies renew our 100 year old copper cable technology, thats only designed for 4Mhz not 45Mbits. WE NEED FIBRE.
