I was not aware that the ADSL firmware was specific to a chipset. My undersatanding was that the different versions have different alogarithms some of which may be better suited to long lines. There has been some discussion about this on the forum previously however nobody got an answere as to what the differences were. The only info from Draytek was to try the different versions and see which worked best. My experience was I could not detect any difference. The 2820 still syncs .5M slower than my old 2600G.

Howard thank for the info, its contrary to what I'm experiencing my ISP is O2 Broadband when using the beta firmware from Draytek which shows ADSL firmware version 2118011_A my modem is unable to sync, my syslog shows:

0:00:51.380 DSL: loading dsl annex A f/w!IPLM
0:00:51.490 DSL: Enter tranning Mode!IPLM
0:00:51.500 DSL: Status=FAIL IPLM
0:00:51.580 DSL: DSl rebooting
0:00:53.280 DSL: loading dsl annex A f/w!IPLM
0:00:53.390 DSL: Enter tranning Mode!IPLM
0:00:53.400 DSL: Status=FAIL IPLM
0:00:53.480 DSL: DSl rebooting
0:00:55.180 DSL: loading dsl annex A f/w!IPLM
0:00:55.290 DSL: Enter tranning Mode!IPLM
0:00:55.300 DSL: Status=FAIL IPLM
0:00:55.380 DSL: DSl rebooting
0:00:57.080 DSL: loading dsl annex A f/w!IPLM
0:00:57.190 DSL: Enter tranning Mode!IPLM
0:00:57.200 DSL: Status=FAIL IPLM
0:00:57.280 DSL: DSl rebooting

Using firmware versions 211011 my modem syncs fine, but 3M slower than my netgear 17M instead of 20M.

Is anyone else seeing these issues?

Regards
Waqs

My 2820 always syncs about 0.5 - 1mb slower than the ISP supplied router.

Dear All

As promised I am reporting back on beta 3.3.1_RC9b for all of our wireless issues.

As I reported the other day, the beta still seems buggy but is at least working (but not to my satisfaction!

Wireless is no longer dropping out but does several times a day slow right down to a snails pace causing all kinds of network issues for us and our computers as they try and chat to the server.

I am still not happy with this beta as the wireless performance still leaves a lot to be desired!

I have had continued conversations with UK support and thier last suggestion was to try changing the wireless encryption types and see if this has any affect, well I can also report to the forum that this does not seem to have changed a thing either on my test bed computers.

I will keep you all up-to-date with any further updates I have, in the mean time I think a large G&T and a cigarette are caled for!

Keith

Hi

This is quite interesting...

I have a 2820vn which was 3.3.0 and it worked fine with a PDA and a web tablet (Samsung Q1 with WinXP; both DHCP). I tried to use it with a Logitech Duet (digital music streamer) but the Duet had serious problems trying to connect, and once connected, dropped out and couldn't reconnect. When it tried to connect, it bounced all other wireless devices off the network which isn't so clever! Incidentally, all units are using WPA/PSK TKIP

I read this form post with great interest and reverted to 3.2.1. The Logitech now tries to connect and sometimes works for a few seconds then drops the connection. It sometimes reconnects but usually doesn't and is totally unusable.

I think it's the Logitech that's the problem but thought I'd mention it here just in case anyone else searches for anything to do with Logitech and Draytek.

NB I've raised a bug on the Logitech site

I'm still running 3.2.1 on my 2820Vn and I use a Duet as well.

The only time it drops out is very occasionally in the evening and I think that is because of channel congestion with my neighbours (apartment dweller).

During the day it'll be absolutely rock solid.

I use WPA2 on mine though, which is a slight difference from your setup.

I'd still like to get beyond 3.2.1 at some point in the future but 3.3.0 was unusable for me.
